Preparing Carpet & Pad for Pickup

Want faster pickups, fewer headaches, and cleaner invoices? Prep is everything. This simple checklist helps contractors and facilities teams get carpet and pad ready for bulk recovery.
Quick Prep Checklist
- Keep debris out: Remove trash, food waste, wood scraps, and loose construction debris.
- Separate carpet from pad if possible: Mixed loads are common, but separation can improve processing efficiency.
- Roll or stack consistently: Rolled carpet is easier to handle, load, and transport.
- Remove tack strips when feasible: If not, at least keep sharp materials controlled to reduce handling risk.
- Keep the load dry: Wet material can increase weight and complicate processing. Cover if weather is an issue.
What We Commonly Accept
- Broadloom carpet
- Carpet tile (boxed or stacked)
- Carpet pad (foam, rubber, mixed depending on job)
What to Avoid in the Load
- General construction trash
- Paint cans and chemicals
- Food waste
- Mixed demolition debris
Why This Matters
Cleaner loads are easier to unload, process, and recycle. That means smoother scheduling, better throughput, and fewer surprises.
